Combining Procedures for Individualized Treatment

After significant weight loss, patients will typically have loose, excess skin that is hard to lose through diet and exercise alone. Even patients who are active and eat healthfully may have some areas of their bodies that have excess skin that will not go away or tighten up without surgery. This excess skin often interferes with the active lifestyle they wish to have. Some would also like to look more toned and have a smoother, younger appearance. Dr. Devlin can use his artistic skill to sculpt and create beautiful contours that will help you look and feel your best.

Preparing for Your Procedure

When you visit our office for your initial consultation, Dr. Devlin will listen closely to your concerns and goals. Taking into account additional considerations, like your health and budget, he can begin designing an individualized treatment plan with you. Upper body lifts involve the removal of excess skin and fat in the chest, back, and arms.  In contrast, a lower body lift will concentrate on eliminating tissue on the buttocks, thighs, and hips. lower back as well as addressing all the areas included in a tummy tuck. Dr. Devlin may also recommend liposuction to refine your results. Each body lift procedure will be customized according to your individual needs and goals.

Upper and Lower Body Lift Procedures

A lower body lift is typically performed by making an incision across the abdomen and around the trunk. Through this opening, Dr. Devlin will remove any fatty deposits and loose hanging skin to create more flattering contours. Depending on your body type, the location and size of the incision can be adjusted to produce optimal results while minimizing scarring.

Upper body lifts are performed through incisions located on the back, arms, and chest, depending on which areas are being treated. Dr. Devlin will sculpt the tissues in the treatment area to create a smooth, younger-looking appearance that is more toned and defined.

Once your procedure is complete, Dr. Devlin will close the incisions with sutures and tissue glue instead of staples (like many other surgeons use), taking great care to minimize any scarring. Depending on the extent of your treatment and health history, you may be required to stay in the hospital over night. However, it can still be performed on an out-patient basis in many cases. Patients should plan on resting and recovering at home for several days following surgery. You will need to attend periodic follow-up appointments with Dr. Devlin to maximize your healing process and potentially reduce complications.
