Benefits of Liposuction

Liposuction is a popular procedure that has many benefits. Some of the advantages of liposuction are:

  • Removes fat deposits
  • Can treat various areas of the body
  • Provides precise contouring
  • Creates a youthful and slim silhouette

Unlike dieting and exercising alone, liposuction can target very specific areas of fat for removal. In addition, liposuction may help you achieve improved self-confidence about your body image.

Liposuction Procedure

Dr. Devlin uses ultrasonic liposuction, which is generally viewed as gentler than other liposuction techniques. With this approach, the liposuction wand (known as a cannula) is equipped with a device that emits ultrasonic pulses that help to break down the fat cells in the treated area and make them easier to remove. The length of the procedure will depend on the area treated, but for most patients it lasts about 1 to 4 hours.

Recovery

After your liposuction procedure, you will wear a compression garment for 10 days. After a few days, you can resume non-strenuous activities. Time off from work depends on the patient; however, for most it will only require a few days off. Strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least 2 to 3 weeks.
