Benefits of Nose Surgery

In Arkansas, people who consider nose surgery find that there are several benefits to the procedure. Rhinoplasty can create a nose that is in balance with the rest of the face, enhancing self esteem and self image in the process. This procedure addresses the following concerns:

  • Nasal profile
  • Width
  • Overall size
  • Nostrils
  • Nasal tip
  • Nasal asymmetry

Whatever your concern is, Dr. Devlin will work with you to achieve your cosmetic goals. He will listen to you and provide honest and caring advice.

Nose Surgery Procedure

In Arkansas, rhinoplasty can be performed using an open procedure or a closed procedure. For an open procedure, an incision is created across the columella (strip of tissue separating the nostrils) as well as inside each nostril. The skin is lifted from the nose so that Dr. Devlin can see the nasal framework. Open rhinoplasty is helpful for reshaping the tip of the nose or more extensively revising the overall shape of the nose, as the surgeon is able to see the internal structure. During a closed rhinoplasty, small incisions are created inside the nostrils in order to access the bone and cartilage. While the skin is not lifted away from the nasal framework, Dr. Devlin is still able to reshape the nose.

Recovery

People who choose to have nose surgery need to be patient during recovery. A splint will be used temporarily to protect the new shape of the nose, and bruising and swelling may be prominent for a few weeks. In general, most patients can return to work about a week after their procedure. Initial swelling will decrease several weeks after the procedure, but it may take a full year before all signs of swelling are gone. The shape of the nose may change in very subtle ways during this time. Dr. Devlin will provide you with specific instructions to expedite the healing process so you can enjoy your new, beautiful nose.
