During the treatment, Dr. Devlin applies a solution to the skin that causes it to “blister” like a sunburn and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. Although most chemical peels are used on the face, they can also be used to improve the skin on the neck, chest and hands.
What Problems Can a Chemical Peel Treat?
A chemical peel is often used to treat fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth. Wrinkles caused by sun damage, aging and hereditary factors can often be reduced or even eliminated with this procedure.

What to Expect After Treatment?
Chemical peels come in various strengths. Dr. Devlin will suggest the most appropriate peel strength based upon your skin tone. In general there are three different types:
- A light peel removes the outer layer of skin. The skin will may be pink the following day but return to normal the following day.
- Medium peel-usually will result in some redness and skin flaking for 5-7 days.
- Deep peel-is just as it implies. This is the most intense peel with the greatest downtime. Recovery takes approximately five days. The skin will turn very dark and peel off. The results of the deep peel are dramatic and last for a longer amount of time.
