Is There an Ideal Age or Time to Get a Mommy Makeover? By Michael A. Devlin, MD on May 21, 2024

Many women considering a mommy makeover wonder if there’s an ideal age for treatment, but there actually isn’t one answer. Instead, the right age or right time to undergo a mommy makeover depends on the unique needs of each patient.

Dr. Michael Devlin can help determine when the time is right for patients considering a mommy makeover in Little Rock, AR, ConwayAR, Hot Springs, AR, and nearby areas. We welcome you to schedule a consultation to find out if you’re a candidate for a mommy makeover.

About Mommy Makeovers

A mommy makeover refers to the combination of cosmetic procedures used to address many of the body issues women face after having children.

Each mommy makeover is tailored to the unique needs and goals of each patient. With this in mind, a mommy makeover may include:

  • Breast augmentation
  • Breast lift
  • Breast reduction
  • Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)
  • Liposuction
  • Labiaplasty

What’s the Best Age for a Mommy Makeover?

Mommy makeovers are commonly performed on women between the ages of 30 and 40 but can be performed on adult women of nearly any age, even over 60. In fact, there isn’t one ideal age for having a mommy makeover.

Determining when the time is right for a mommy makeover is a personal decision that’s best discussed with a cosmetic surgeon and takes into account factors such as personal health, treatment goals, and lifestyle.

Although there isn’t one perfect age for having a mommy makeover, the following are some things to consider when determining the right time for a mommy makeover.

In Good General Health

In order to be a good candidate for a mommy makeover, patients must be in good general health and free of conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes, hypertension, and certain other underlying health conditions. Additionally, candidates should be non-smokers or willing to quit smoking prior to their mommy makeover and throughout recovery.

Done Have Children

Regardless of age, it’s important that any woman considering a mommy makeover wait until she’s done having children as having children after a mommy makeover will affect the results.

Waiting until you’re done having children will help you maintain the results of your mommy makeover for as long as possible.

Done Breastfeeding

Because breastfeeding causes the breasts to enlarge, anyone considering a mommy makeover should also be done breastfeeding, especially when considering cosmetic breast procedures.

Those who are actively breastfeeding need to wait until they are done and haven’t produced milk for roughly six months before undergoing a breast procedure as part of their mommy makeover.

Have Realistic Expectations

Finally, when it comes to having a mommy makeover age is not as important as having realistic expectations. Having a good understanding of the expected results of each procedure used in your mommy makeover can help keep things in perspective. With that said, most women feel more confident and comfortable in their bodies after a mommy makeover.
