Breast Augmentation

Dr. Michael Devlin talks about his process of breast augmentation consultations. He takes our patients' goals very seriously, and makes recommendations pertaining to cup size, shape, and other dimensions. It is important to us that our patients achieve their goals, which is why we take time to plan surgery carefully.

With breast augmentation, we spend a lot of time talking to the patient during their initial consultation. Our typical breast augmentation consultation will last over an hour. We spend a lot of time trying to see what the patient's goals and objectives are and also differentiate do they need a lift or some other procedure along with the breast augmentation or just the breast augmentation alone. And then, once we determine that, there are a variety of different implants that we utilize, different sizes and shapes. So when people come in and say, "I want to be this size," it's not really as important. We'll show them the different implants that are the same volume but vastly different shapes and different looks. So we kind of have to customize our breast augmentations to what the patient wants, what type of look they're going for. Once we do that, we have them try on the implants so we can adjust exactly what size they want to be afterwards. Then once we are done with that, we talk about the implant placement, whether it's above the muscle, under the muscle, what the different options for that, benefits for each one of them and we let the patient decide what's best for them as long as it makes good medical sense to us as well.
