What Parts of My Face and Body Can Be Treated with Laser Hair Removal? By Michael A. Devlin, MD on October 01, 2023

a woman walking on the beachLaser hair removal technology can remove hair from virtually any area of the body. And as technology has advanced over the last couple of decades, the laser hair removal treatment process has become more comfortable and effective than ever. If you have unwanted hair on your body, the team at Michael Devlin, M.D.’s Little RockAR, practice can help you have the smoother skin you desire. In this blog post, we discuss what parts of the face and body can be treated with laser hair removal.

The Face

The face is a common area for laser hair removal. Some patients opt to have hair removed from specific areas of the face, such as above the upper lip or on the chin, while other patients have more widespread hair across the face that they would like to reduce with this treatment.

The Legs

Many patients don't want to have to bother with routine leg shaving or waxing, especially during the warmer months. These patients may be interested in having their hair removed or reduced from the legs. Patients have the option of having laser hair removal on just the lower legs or both the upper and lower legs.

The Armpits

Shaving the armpits everyday takes time, and in many cases, it is hard to get a close shave. And many women find that they have dark hair showing beneath the skin after shaving. On the other hand, waxing can be painful, expensive, and time-consuming. For these patients, laser hair removal can be an excellent option. Over the course of two to five treatment sessions, patients can see reduced hair growth in the armpit area.

The Arms

Some patients have excess or dark hair on the arms. At our Little Rock practice, our team can reduce or remove the hair on the arms. Patients have the option of having hair removed from just the lower arms, or both the upper and lower arms.

The Bikini Area

The bikini area is one of the most commonly requested areas for laser hair removal. Patients have the option of just having the bikini area done, or they can choose to undergo the Brazilian laser hair removal treatment. The bikini treatment focuses on the front of the pelvis, while the Brazilian option includes the labia, along the groin, and between the buttocks.

The Back

Many men have excessive hair on the back. This hair is difficult for men to reach on their own when shaving, and waxing can be painful, time consuming, and expensive. In addition, many men don't feel comfortable going to routine waxing appointments. With laser hair removal, men can have hair reduced on their back permanently. In most cases, to fully reduce or remove hair to the patient's desire, a total of five treatment sessions is needed.

The Chest

For men, the chest is another area that often has excessive amounts of hair. We can perform laser hair removal treatment to effectively reduce the amount of hair in this area.

The Abdomen

Some women may have hair on the abdomen, especially above the bikini area, that they wish to remove. This is also possible with laser hair removal.

Spot Treatments

Finally, many patients have small areas with hair that they would like to permanently remove. In most cases, we can perform a spot treatment to remove hair from smaller areas of the body or areas where a rogue hair grows. Common examples include the area around the areolas or the tops of the toes.
