Transaxillary Breast Augmentation Incisions
The transaxillary breast augmentation technique uses a hidden incision to place breast implants. This procedure involves an incision made in the armpit. Through this armpit incision, surgeons can insert a breast implant, maneuver it into position, and fill the implant once it is in place.
Transumbilical Breast Augmentation Incisions
The transumbilical breast augmentation technique is another hidden incision surgical method. This procedure involves an incision that is made in the belly button. Through this navel incision, a saline breast implant can be inserted, positioned, and inflated once it’s been maneuvered in place.
How Visible Are Breast Augmentation Scars?
The visibility of breast augmentation scars can vary. Let’s consider each surgical incision method individually:
- Inframammary Breast Augmentation Scars - Since the scars are located under the breasts, they are usually not seen and easily concealed by most tops, undergarments, and bathing suits. The scars will fade with time.
- Periareolar Breast Augmentation Scars - The scar tissue around the areola tends to blend in well given the pigment differences from the rest of the skin of the breast. Most tops, undergarments, and bathing suits will conceal these scars, and the scars themselves will fade with time.
- Transaxillary Breast Augmentation Scars - Since the incisions are made in the armpit, there will be no scars on the breast themselves.
- Transumbilical Breast Augmentation Scars - This surgical technique involves the best concealed scars since few people will closely examine your belly button. Even with an exposed midriff, the incision location is not easily detectable.
