For those who want to rejuvenate their appearance but aren’t ready to undergo surgery, BOTOX® Cosmetic is a non-surgical option to diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles.

Deciding which treatment is right for you is a personal choice and best discussed with a trusted cosmetic surgeon. If you live in or around Little Rock, AR, ConwayAR, or Hot SpringsAR, and would like to find out which treatment is right for you, we invite you to schedule a consultation.

About Facelift Surgery

A facelift is a surgical procedure used to diminish the signs of aging around the lower portion of the face and neck.

During a facelift, excess skin and fat from the lower two-third of the face is removed and the underlying muscles are tightened to create a smoother, more youthful appearance.

Recovery after a facelift can take several weeks but many patients are recovered enough to return to work, provided it doesn’t require strenuous activity, within two weeks of surgery.

The final results of a facelift won’t be apparent until bruising and swelling resolve but most patients will see an improvement as soon as four weeks after surgery. In addition, patients can expect the results of a facelift to last for about five to seven years.

About BOTOX

BOTOX is a nonsurgical procedure for smoothing wrinkles and keeping a youthful appearance. BOTOX Cosmetic is an FDA approved treatment in which botulinum toxin is injected into the facial muscles. This causes the muscles to relax, helping the skin that lies over the muscles to lay smoother.

BOTOX can be used to target wrinkles on the forehead, crow’s feet, smile lines, around the mouth, and other areas with results being noticeable within 24 to 48 hours. While results are quickly noticeable they are temporary, usually lasting around three to four months. However, injections can be repeated to maintain results.

Recovery from BOTOX injections is relatively short with most patients able to return to their daily routine as soon as the same day of treatment.

Deciding Between Treatments

Choosing between a facelift or BOTOX is a personal decision. BOTOX has limitations and cannot tighten muscles or excess skin like a facelift can, so for some, a facelift may be preferable to get the results they’re looking for.

On the other hand, those with minimal signs of aging may not be ready for a facelift and instead would benefit most from BOTOX.

On a final note, BOTOX injections may be combined with a facelift to enhance results and target areas, like wrinkles around the eyes and forehead, that aren’t treated by a facelift alone.
